City Parks

Thoreson Park is located at the intersection of North 15th Street and 6th Avenue North in Estherville.This 14 acre park contains a large area of playground equipment, a bocce ball court, sand volleyball court, basketball court, park benches, picnic tables, three Baseball/Softball fields and three shelter areas.

Sanborn Shelter is located at the northwest entrance to the park.  It has public restrooms, picnic tables, campground style grills in the surrounding area, electrical access on the outside of the building and kitchen with all the appliances.There is a $35 rental fee plus deposit to rent the kitchen portion of the shelter.

Open Shelter  is located at the southeast entrance to the park.  It has electrical service and picnic tables.It can be reserved free of charge.

Pavilion is located on the east side of the park in the middle of the 3 ball fields.  The concession stand is open during all City Youth Baseball and Softball games and during traveling team tournaments.  It has public restrooms and picnic tables.It can be rented to the public after the end of the Baseball/Softball season which would be during the months of September and October.

Joe Hoye Park is located on West North 2nd Street in Estherville.  It has an open shelter house that offers access to electricity and picnic tables.  It also has playground equipment, frisbee golf and public restrooms.

The shelter house can be reserved free of charge.  Any questions on reservations, please call the Park and Rec office at 712-362-3575.

Lincoln Park is located at the corner of North 9th Street and 12th Avenue North in Estherville.This is one of our newer parks that contains a large, partially fenced in family friendly playground. There are also several picnic tables in the area too.This park is also a bus stop for local students through out the school year.

David Spurgin Park is located on South 15th Street in Estherville.It has a one mile limestone walking trail, park benches, picnic tables, 4 tennis courts and public restrooms.

It is also conveniently located next to the Iowa Lakes Community College Baseball Complex.

Trinity Park is located at the corner of 20th Avenue North and Dan Bur Drive in Estherville. This park was recently updated with new equipment in addition to some existing equipment.

Wayne King Park is located on North 14th Street between 2nd and 4th Avenues North in Estherville. This nice little neighborhood park has playground equipment with an open shelter with a picnic table.

Riverside Park is located on the 100 block of North 1st Street in Estherville.  This park has ample green space, access to the Des Moines River and the west entrance to the Swinging Bridge that crosses it.

North Mickelson Park is located in the 100 block of South 1st Street in Estherville.  The City's Ninja Playground and Rock Garden are located in this park. It also has river access, park benches and picnic tables throughout.
